Due to the very small construction height of flat cylinders, it is very difficult to adequately dimension the guide surfaces (between piston and cylinder, piston rod and guide sleeve). In general, these cylinders have the greatest tendency of all cylinder types to seize due to lateral forces.
The new, highly sophisticated KGF series of flat cylinders meets the requirements of "full lateral load capacity" while maintaining a very small cylinder height. At the same time, measures have been taken to increase resistance to impurities in the oil and corrosion of the guide and sealing surfaces. In the larger sizes, the weight reduction due to the round shape and the extension of the stroke range are also significant, filling the gap between the stroke size of conventional flat cylinders and short cylinders.
